October 19, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Bae, Kim & Lee LLC appointed Lim Se-jin, a former senior prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, on October 19 to strengthen its corporate criminal defense and regulatory compliance practices. The firm recruited Lim to further strengthen its comprehensive response capabilities against various corporate criminal and regulatory risks.

An 18-Year Prosecutorial Career

Lim spent approximately 18 years as a prosecutor across the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, Busan District Prosecutors’ Office, Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office, and the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, handling investigation and trial duties in areas such as financial and securities crimes, corporate and public official corruption, and criminal proceeds recovery. His tenure included leading the Financial Investigation Division 1 at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office, where he handled capital markets unfair trading and misuse of undisclosed information cases.

Lim Recovers Concealed Assets in Bank Embezzlement Case

As head of the Proceeds of Crime Recovery Department at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, Lim investigated a large-scale embezzlement case involving bank employees. That work involved tracking and recovering concealed assets to restore bank losses, earning him a Supreme Prosecutors’ Office professional prosecutor certification in criminal proceeds recovery in 2023.

Ministry of Justice Administration and Policy

Lim also served as chief of the Prosecutors’ Division and the Criminal Planning Division at the Ministry of Justice, managing personnel, organizational budgets, and administrative policy coordination with the National Assembly, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. This work included handling practical matters across general prosecutorial administration, granting him a deep understanding of prosecutorial systems and organizational operations alongside his investigation experience.

Expanding Multi-Dimensional Solutions

Lim is expected to add multi-dimensional response capabilities to corporate criminal and regulatory risks involving complex issues such as capital markets, fair trade, embezzlement and breach of trust, corporate crime, tax crime, and internal controls and compliance, drawing on his rich investigation and policy experience accumulated in key investigative departments and core Ministry of Justice positions.

“Recently, criminal risks surrounding corporations are becoming more complex, combining regulations across financial, capital markets, fair trade, tax, and labor sectors,” said Oh Jong-han, managing partner at Bae, Kim & Lee. “Through the addition of Lim Se-jin, who brings deep and diverse expertise from key prosecutorial posts, Bae, Kim & Lee will provide more sophisticated and multi-dimensional solutions across corporate criminal and regulatory risk response.”
