Baden-Württemberg Stickers: New Campaign & Airport Vending Machine
Stuttgart Airport is now selling self-deprecating tourism stickers from a vending machine, offering ten stickers emblazoned with the slogan “Not bad. But have you ever been to Baden-Württemberg?” for one euro.
The vending machine, colored yellow to match the stickers, is located in Terminal 3 of the airport, according to a statement from the Baden-Württemberg state government. The stickers are also now available in English.
The campaign, originally launched in the late 1990s, features oval, bright yellow stickers with the slogan. The state government initiated the vending machine installation to reach a broad audience, including residents, business travelers, tourists, and even those “offline,” a government spokesperson said.
The stickers have gained a cult following, becoming popular souvenirs carried and displayed by travelers around the world. Stuttgart Airport, officially Flughafen Stuttgart – Manfred Rommel, serves as the primary international gateway for the Stuttgart metropolitan region and the state of Baden-Württemberg.
According to airport statistics from 2022, Stuttgart Airport handled 6,986,943 passengers and 85,822 aircraft movements. The airport is the sixth busiest in Germany, and in 2018, saw 11,832,634 passengers pass through its terminals. It is operated by Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH (FSG), which is 65% owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg and 35% by the city of Stuttgart.
Eurowings is the largest airline operating at the airport, but Condor, SunExpress, and TUI fly Deutschland also maintain a significant presence. The airport offers connections to over 100 destinations. In 2025, the airport registered 9,145,129 passengers.
The airport is located approximately 13 kilometers south of Stuttgart city center and encompasses approximately 400 hectares, including 190 hectares of green space.
