Bad Company‘s Paul Rodgers Will Miss Rock Hall Induction Due too Health Concerns
Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers will be unable to attend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2025 induction ceremony, the musician announced Friday on social media. Rodgers stated that longtime bandmate simon Kirke, ”along with some outstanding musicians,” will perform in his place, and assured fans they are “guaranteed to rock.” He and Kirke had previously announced plans to reunite on stage as the only two surviving original members of the band.
The news comes after Rodgers revealed in 2023 that he suffered 13 strokes over several years, with two being major strokes that temporarily left him unable to speak. Bad Company is being inducted into the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2024, but the ceremony was delayed until 2025.
“I couldn’t do anything to be honest,” Rodgers told CBS News at the time. “I couldn’t speak. That was the very strange thing. You know, I’d prepare somthing in my mind and I’d say it, but that isn’t what came out, and I’d go, ‘what the heck did I just say?'” He described his recovery as a series of achievements, adding, “Each thing that I did was an achievement … ‘Oh, I can do this. I can sing.'”
fans responded to Rodgers’ proclamation with messages of support. “Prayers for you Paul. One of my favorite bands & front men of all time,” one person wrote. Another said, “Ah man I was looking forward to him performing. Hope he’s ok, that’s all that matters.”
