Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS made history Sunday night, becoming the first Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. The win triggered a surge in the artist’s popularity, with his catalog experiencing a 117% increase in streams and a 591% jump in digital sales in the 24 hours following the ceremony.
The 31-year-old Puerto Rican artist, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, secured the top prize over a competitive field including Kendrick Lamar, Leon Thomas, Clipse, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga, according to reports from Yahoo and Forbes. During his acceptance speech for Best Música Urbana Album earlier in the evening, Bad Bunny used the platform to voice his support for immigrants, stating, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out.” The statement was met with significant applause from the audience at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Billboard reported that Bad Bunny’s entire catalog amassed nearly 36 million streams on Monday, February 2nd, a substantial increase from the previous day. Digital sales also saw a dramatic rise, exceeding 3,000 singles sold, according to Luminate data. While all six of his albums benefited from the increased attention, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, released in January 2025, accounted for the majority of the surge.
Notably, Bad Bunny was unable to perform at the Grammy Awards due to a prior commitment to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 8th. Despite this, he shared a lighthearted moment with host Trevor Noah during the ceremony. Noah recited a translated excerpt from the title track of DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, “DtMF,” encouraging Bad Bunny to join him on stage. Bad Bunny obliged, performing a portion of the song with a live band, to the delight of those in attendance and television viewers.
Billboard indicated that “DtMF” experienced the largest increase in streams, nearly quadrupling its play count compared to the previous week. With his upcoming Super Bowl performance, Bad Bunny’s music is expected to continue gaining momentum and reach an even wider audience.
