Baby Algirdas: Plungė Doctors Deliver Joyful News

Man Escapes Losing Leg Thanks to Quick-Thinking Family & Skilled Surgeons

Plungė,Lithuania A Lithuanian man narrowly avoided amputation after a freak accident while cleaning his pond. Algirdas, a resident of Tveriškiai, sustained a deep wound to his leg while attempting to shoo away a frog with a knife. Without the swift action of his family and the expertise of doctors at Plungė Hospital, the outcome coudl have been devastating.

The incident occurred as Algirdas was finishing up four days of pond cleaning. “I felt unwell suddenly. When I got out of the water,blood was gushing from my leg,” he recounted. Fortunately, his daughter was nearby mowing the lawn and heard his cries for help. She,along with her husband and Algirdas’s wife,immediately called emergency services and applied a makeshift tourniquet.

Paramedics stabilized Algirdas and transported him to Plungė Hospital where a complex, multi-surgeon operation ensued. Dr. Saul
