Azerbaijan Promotes Tourism and Umrah Plus Packages in Indonesia
The Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB) debuted its tourism offerings in the Indonesian market on April 6 during the Indonesia Travel Expo (ITE) 2026 in Jakarta.
During the event, the ATB utilized a series of B2B meetings to introduce new tourism products and services to Indonesian outbound travel buyers. These sessions were designed to establish direct contacts, strengthen partnerships with local travel agencies, and identify new business opportunities within the Southeast Asian tourism sector.
A central component of the promotional strategy is the positioning of Azerbaijan as an “Umrah Plus” destination. This initiative presents the country as a complementary addition to pilgrimage journeys, aiming to attract Muslim travelers by offering a blend of spiritual and cultural experiences.
To support this positioning, the ATB highlighted specific national assets, including Azerbaijan’s rich Islamic heritage, historic mosques, and cultural attractions. The promotion also emphasized the availability of extensive halal dining options, the country’s natural landscapes, and its modern tourism infrastructure as key draws for Indonesian travelers.
The promotional push extends into the wider Southeast Asian region, specifically targeting the Malaysian market. As part of this outreach, the ATB organized a targeted webinar for approximately 20 leading Malaysian travel agencies that specialize in Umrah pilgrimage, presenting Azerbaijan as an “Umrah Plus” destination.
The current phase of the Indonesia Travel Expo is scheduled to continue in Surabaya on April 9.
