Avon Celebrates 140 Years and Reinvents Itself as a FemTech Brand
Avon is marking its 140th anniversary with a comprehensive global rebranding strategy that repositions the historic direct-sales company as a FemTech enterprise. The shift brings digital tools directly into everyday beauty, care, and wellness routines.
A 140-Year-Old Giant Reinvents Itself as a FemTech Pioneer
Under the banner “Nueva desde siempre” (New Forever), the company is rolling out a modernized visual identity featuring a redesigned logo built for a hyperconnected era. Pilar Inda, Marketing Manager for Avon South Market, explains that the evolution underscores a century-and-a-half-long capacity to adapt to cultural shifts and consumer needs without losing foundational principles.
“During 140 years we have accompanied women in different stages of their lives, adapting to their needs, cultural changes, and society’s transformations, without losing our essence,” Inda stated, noting that the rebranding aims to connect new generations with a contemporary, digitally attuned version of the brand.
From Patent Portfolios to Advanced Cosmetic Chemistry
The rebranding builds on a corporate history defined by product research and direct-to-consumer networks. Across its operational history, Avon has accumulated a portfolio exceeding 100 patents. Notable historical and recent developments include the introduction of the first sunscreen containing insect repellent, stabilizing Vitamin C for cosmetic application, and developing Protinol as an exclusive ingredient.
More recent additions feature Hydramatic, described in company disclosures as the first lipstick formulation built with a hyaluronic acid core. This emphasis on technical formulation runs alongside traditional product lines, such as the newly introduced Iconic line of fragrances and lipsticks, combining historical branding with modern chemistry.
Modernizing the Relationship-Driven Independent Sales Model
At the same time, the company continues to maintain its foundational sales model.
Built as a network of independent sellers, Avon historically offered economic opportunities and independence for millions of women worldwide. The current brand update seeks to translate those relationship-driven networks into a format suited for modern consumers who utilize digital channels for recommendations and daily beauty solutions.
Mobilizing Thousands for Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection
Alongside commercial restructuring, the brand continues its public health outreach efforts. Over 12,000 participants recently joined the 19th annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (Caminata Avon para ganarle al cáncer de mama) to support awareness and early detection initiatives.

The event remains a core pillar of the company’s community engagement strategy, linking its commercial presence in health and wellness directly to organized philanthropic outreach.
