Doctor Doom’s Multiversal Revenge to Fuel ’Avengers: Doomsday‘ Clash with X-Men
The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release on December 18, 2026, is shaping up to be a multiversal conflict centered around Doctor Doom’s ambition to control time itself, possibly pitting the Avengers against the X-Men. Insider Daniel Richtman reports the film will heavily feature a conflict between the X-Men Universe and Earth-616, stemming from Monica Rambeau’s arrival on Earth-10005 in The Marvels.
This development echoes the storyline of the Secret Wars comics, where saving one reality could necessitate the destruction of another. Richtman’s sources indicate Doctor Doom, to be portrayed by returning actor Robert Downey Jr., will be driven by a “revenge against the multiverse,” aiming to establish a single, unified timeline under his dominion.
Avengers: doomsday will be directed by the Russo brothers, with a script penned by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film is set to unite the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four, featuring a cast including chris Hemsworth, tom Hiddleston, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, and patrick Stewart. Avengers: doomsday will serve as a prelude to Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for release in December 2027.
