Avenged Sevenfold Postpones Latin American Tour Due to Vocal Cord Injury
BUENOS AIRES – Avenged Sevenfold has announced the postponement of it’s upcoming shows in Buenos Aires and throughout Latin America after vocalist M. Shadows sustained a re-injury to his left vocal cord, the same issue he faced in 2017.The band intends to reschedule the dates for January, offering ticket holders the opportunity to retain their purchases for the new dates or seek refunds.
This marks a setback for fans eagerly anticipating the band’s return to the region, and underscores the fragility of a vocalist’s instrument. Shadows explained that attempting to continue performing in his current condition risks further damage and a potential second surgery. He previously attempted to push through a similar injury years ago, relying on medication which ultimately led to surgical intervention.
“If I turn this out now, I will have a few weeks to rest my voice and after months of rehabilitation, we can rebuild these dates for you,” Shadows stated in a message to fans. ”This will be the last time I speak in a couple of weeks, my heart breaks my heart, but I have to do this.”
The band is working to reprogram the shows, acknowledging the inconvenience to those who have already made travel arrangements. “Excuse me to all who have made plans and spent money. I hope this is early enough so you can make the appropriate plans and change the dates to January,” he added.
Shadows also expressed regret for the impact on the band’s crew, many of whom had already traveled to the region. ”Sorry for the band, all of them have already flown up, our team that is here. Ther is no way to sing like this and I don’t want another surgery,” he concluded.
