Avaada Electro Files for ₹7,600 Crore IPO to Expand Solar Manufacturing

August 26, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

As detailed in regulatory filings covered by Financial Express and Moneycontrol, solar panel maker Avaada Electro has submitted an updated draft red herring prospectus to the Securities and Exchange Board of India aiming to raise up to Rs 7,600 crore through an initial public offering. The Brookfield-backed firm plans to raise Rs 1,600 crore via a fresh issue of shares, alongside an offer for sale of up to Rs 6,000 crore by promoter Avaada Ventures Private.

Capital Structure and Debt Reduction Targets

Financial Express notes that the planned share sale features a book-built issue format overseen by leading financial institutions such as ICICI Securities, Axis Capital, BofA Securities India, HSBC Securities and Capital Markets India, SBI Capital Markets, and IIFL Capital Securities, with MUFG Intime India functioning as the registrar to the issue. Moneycontrol notes that the company may consider a pre-IPO placement of up to Rs 320 crore prior to releasing the red herring prospectus. If executed, this pre-IPO round will form part of the fresh issue, reducing the final primary share allocation accordingly.

Financial metrics from the filings show clear capital allocation priorities. Avaada Electro intends to deploy Rs 1,200 crore of the fresh issue net proceeds toward debt repayment by fiscal 2027. According to Moneycontrol data, total outstanding borrowings stood at Rs 3,926.4 crore as of June 2026, driven by aggressive loan drawdowns to finance early-stage manufacturing expansion. The remaining net proceeds will support general corporate requirements, while the promoter group will retain all proceeds from the Rs 6,000 crore offer-for-sale component.

Manufacturing Footprint and Technology Upgrades

Operating within India’s renewable energy manufacturing sector, Avaada Electro maintains production facilities in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, and Nagpur, Maharashtra. The company claims a position among the top 10 vertically integrated solar photovoltaic manufacturers domestically, operating 8.50 GW of solar module capacity and 3.00 GW of tunnel oxide passivated contact solar cell manufacturing capacity, as outlined in Moneycontrol’s reporting.

Industry adoption patterns heavily favor this technological shift. Global solar developers increasingly specify N-type TOPCon cells over older monocrystalline passivated emitter and rear cell alternatives due to higher conversion efficiency. While traditional PERC lines achieve efficiency between 23.2 percent and 23.7 percent, CRISIL data cited in the filings indicates TOPCon technology delivers conversion rates reaching up to 26 percent. Avaada Electro is constructing an additional 5.10 GW of solar module capacity and 6.00 GW of solar cell capacity in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, targeting commissioning by fiscal 2028.

Financial Performance and Market Peers

The company demonstrated substantial top-line and bottom-line expansion heading into the public markets. Financial Express and Moneycontrol figures show profit after tax surged to Rs 888.74 crore for the fiscal year ended March 2026, marking a nearly five-fold increase from Rs 173.3 crore in the preceding fiscal year. Operating revenue climbed correspondingly to Rs 5,303 crore, up from Rs 911 crore.

Operational scaling introduces distinct corporate risks. Disclosures highlight the firm’s heavy reliance on the broader Avaada Group, particularly Avaada Energy Private, alongside related-party transactions and elevated debt-to-equity ratios. Avaada Electro competes directly with listed sector peers including Premier Energies, Waaree Energies, Vikram Solar, Websol Energy Systems, and Emmvee Photovoltaic Power.
