LUNINETS DISTRICT, BREST REGION – A vibrant autumn ball brought joy and creative expression to children at the Brest Regional Children’s Center for Medical Rehabilitation “Lakhva” this fall, thanks to the efforts of local educators.
Organized by Galina Abramchuk, methodologist for non-stationary services within the Luninets District’s Centralized Club System, and alena Lukashevich, a teacher at the center, the event transformed the rehabilitation facility into a festive royal court. The ball provided a welcome respite and engaging activities for children undergoing medical treatment, fostering a sense of normalcy and joy during their recovery. The initiative highlights the importance of arts-based therapy and community support in pediatric rehabilitation.
The center’s halls were adorned for a ceremonial reception hosted by the Queen of Autumn, accompanied by her retinue: Sentyabrinka, Oktyabrinka, Noyabrinka, Yagoda Ryabinka, and Listopad – all appearing in bright, colorful costumes. Children were treated to poems, songs, dances, and playful scenes, punctuated by enthusiastic applause.
A face painting workshop, led by Galina Abramchuk, proved especially popular, allowing children to briefly embody characters from the autumn-themed ball with blossoming leaves and mysterious patterns on their faces. Entertaining games and riddles kept spirits high throughout the event.
Active participants received sweet prizes, but the most cherished gift was a book of original work presented by Galina Abramchuk. “This is not just a book, it is indeed a piece of the heart, a sincere sign of attention and love for children,” noted Lyudmila Sverchkova, a methodologist with the centralized club system.
