Austria vs. Sturm Graz: Injury-Hit Sturm Faces Pressure in Vienna

SK Sturm Graz tritt laut Sky Sport Austria am Samstag ab 19:00 Uhr gegen Wiener Austria an, wobei sieben Spieler verletzt, zwei angeschlagen und einer gesperrt sind. Sturm enters the fixture fourth in the Austrian Bundesliga standings, trailing league leaders Rapid by seven points and the third-placed LASK by five points.

Injury Crisis Hits Graz Ahead of Vienna Trip

Sturm Graz manager Fabio Ingolitsch faces a severe personnel shortage for Saturday’s match in Vienna-Favoriten. Otar Kiteishvili leads a list of seven absent players due to injury. Albert Vallci and Arjan Malic are listed as doubtful with knocks, while Jürgen Heil serves a suspension. Despite the roster depletion, Ingolitsch expressed confidence in his available squad during statements reported by Sky Sport Austria.

“We want to act uncompromisingly in duels, play intensively and courageously with the ball, and thus take important points for the table back to Graz,” Ingolitsch stated.

The Graz coach had limited time to train with his full squad during the international break due to numerous players departing for national team duty. Their last competitive appearance in Vienna resulted in a 5:2 victory for Sturm in March. Beyond domestic league points, Ingolitsch aims to establish strong momentum before traveling to face Bournemouth in the UEFA Europa League the following week.

Austria Seeks Home Turnaround Under Pressure

Wiener Austria enters the fixture holding tenth place in the league table, trailing fifth-placed WSG Tirol by a single point. Head coach Stephan Helm prepares his squad under mounting pressure to close the gap on their preseason targets. During the international break, Austria focused heavily on refining its counter-pressing structures.

Captain Manfred Fischer emphasized the urgency within the squad, telling Sky Sport Austria that the team must demonstrate immediate commitment from the opening whistle. Helm downplayed the opponent’s roster challenges, noting that Sturm maintains a deep squad specifically constructed to handle the physical demands of a dual-competition calendar.

The match will stream live and exclusively on Sky Sport Austria via WOW.
