Australian Eye Supplements: MacuSee Launches to Support Vision Health | AMD & Macular Degeneration

March 2, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

An Australian company, MacuSee, is preparing to launch a new eye and macular health supplement in March 2026, hoping to capitalize on growing consumer interest in preventative eyecare and mounting scientific evidence supporting the role of supplements in combating age-related vision decline.

The launch follows approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) late in 2025. MacuSee was created in collaboration with ophthalmologists, according to company manager Paul Simpson, who brings 15 years of experience in the supplement and pharmaceutical industries to the venture.

“We have seen the cost of these vital supplements increase over time and particularly for older Australians with eye conditions,” Simpson said. “We are hoping to provide a cheaper product so more patients are able to access this vital treatment for eye and macular health.”

Interest in the link between nutrition and eye health was highlighted in 2025 when research demonstrating the potential of vitamin supplements to improve eye metabolism became a top story, according to the company. This consumer focus aligns with findings from the US National Eye Institute’s Age-Related Eye Disease Studies (AREDS and AREDS2), completed in 2013.

The AREDS and AREDS2 studies, involving 4,757 participants aged 55 to 80, established the efficacy of specific vitamins and minerals – including vitamin C, vitamin E, copper, zinc, lutein, and zeaxanthin – in slowing the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The research indicated that supplementation could reduce the risk of AMD progression by approximately 25%.

MacuSee’s formulation is based on these findings. Each capsule contains 500mg of Vitamin C, 400IU of Vitamin E, 25mg of Zinc, 2mg of Copper, 10mg of Lutein, and 2mg of Zeaxanthin. The supplement is manufactured in Australia to pharmaceutical standards in a GMP/TGA licensed facility.

The company is prioritizing accessibility alongside affordability. MacuSee plans to offer a subscription model with discounted pricing and regular, six-monthly deliveries to ensure patients maintain a consistent supply.

MacuSee also intends to contribute to the broader eyecare community, donating $1 from every order to eye charities such as The Fred Hollows Foundation and Macular Disease Foundation Australia.
