Shooting and Athletics Athletes Secure Multiple Medals
Shooting yielded multiple podium finishes as Rudraksh Patil secured a medal in the men’s 10-meter air rifle. In the skeet events, Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Maheshwari Chauhan teamed up for the women’s skeet team medal, while Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhawitaj Singh Gill, and Mairaj Ahmed Khan took the men’s skeet team honors. Naruka and Dhaliwal also claimed a medal in the mixed skeet competition. Athletics contributed heavily to the day’s tally on the track and field. Seema Kumari ran the women’s 10,000-meter race, Manpreet Kaur competed in the women’s shot put, and Baranika Elangovan cleared the bar in the women’s pole vault. Combat and racquet disciplines added further depth to the delegation’s count. Narinder Berwal medaled in the men’s over-90 kg boxing category, Priya Ghanghas competed in the women’s 60 kg division, and Kapil Pokhariya fought in the men’s 90 kg class. In wrestling, Sunil Kumar secured a position in the Greco-Roman 87 kg event, and Deepak Punia competed in the men’s 97 kg freestyle. Pinki Balhara medaled in women’s 78 kg kurash, and Suchika Tariyal represented the team in women’s 60 kg mixed martial arts. Jai Meina advanced in men’s singles soft tennis, while Diya Chitale and Manush Shah claimed a medal in mixed doubles table tennis. The badminton contingent—featuring M.R. Arjun, Ayush Shetty, Chirag Shetty, Dhruv Kapila, Hariharan Amsakarunan, Lakshya Sen, H.S. Prannoy, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Kidambi Srikanth, and Tharun Mannepalli—medaled in the men’s team event. Squash competitors Joshna Chinappa, Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, and Shamina Riyaz secured the women’s team podium, alongside the men’s team of Abhay Singh, Veer Chotrani, Velavan Senthilkumar, and Suraj Kumar Chand. Chinappa and Senthilkumar also partnered for a mixed doubles medal. Harshita Tomar and Sheetal Verma competed in women’s skiff sailing, and Nethra Kumanan raced in women’s dinghy. Ganesh Mani Ranganath Thirumurti rounded out the totals in men’s compound individual archery.
