Astrakhan Region: Frosts Forecasted for March 23-24
A wave of late-season frosts is forecast to hit the Astrakhan region of Russia, threatening agricultural yields and increasing the risk of fires, according to the regional center for hydrometeorology. Temperatures are expected to dip as low as -4.0°C (24.8°F) during the night and early morning hours from October 1st to October 3rd, 2025.
The Astrakhan Listok, a regional news outlet with a history stretching back over 150 years, first reported the impending cold snap on September 29th, 2025. The publication highlighted the potential for increased fire hazards due to the expected temperature drop, specifically citing risks associated with improper leverage of electric heaters and homemade heating devices, as well as general non-compliance with fire safety regulations.
In response to the forecast, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) of Russia for the Astrakhan region has urged citizens to familiarize themselves with detailed safety guidelines available on the agency’s official website. EMERCOM has also reminded residents of the emergency contact numbers – 101 and 112 – for reporting incidents.
The Astrakhan Listok maintains a presence on Telegram, Dzen, and VKontakte, providing ongoing updates on regional news, and events. The publication, which identifies itself as a leading media outlet in the region, can be reached at 8-937-120-9050 or [email protected].
