Dallas, TX – Students seeking a direct route to a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering now have a streamlined option through a collaborative programme between Richland College and the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). This “articulated” degree program,officially designated AS.UTA.ELEC.ENGR.11, guarantees admission to UTA’s BSEE program for qualified Richland College graduates.
The Associate of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, offered at Richland College in conjunction with UTA, is designed for students specifically intending to transfer to UTA to continue their studies in electrical Engineering. Students aiming for transfer to other institutions should be aware that this curriculum may not fully transfer.
Eligibility and Requirements
To be eligible for the AS degree and guaranteed admission to UTA, students must meet the following criteria:
- Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours as outlined in the program plan.
- Achieve a grade of “C” or higher in English 1301 (available here) and a selected college-level mathematics course.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 (“C”). UTA guarantees admission with a 2.50 GPA and no grade below a “C”, provided all other admissions requirements are met.
- satisfy all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements and all course prerequisites.
- Complete at least 25% of the required credit hours (approximately 15 credit hours) through instruction at Richland College, located at 1300 E Belt line rd, Dallas, TX 75287.
Important Note: UTA will not accept transfer credit for courses completed with a grade lower than “C”.
