The new series draws clear inspiration from classic body horror and psychological thrillers: Death Becomes Her, David Cronenberg’s The Fly and Rabid, and the unsettling atmosphere of Eyes Without a Face. The Substance, starring Demi moore, also serves as a notable reference point. Though, the show is actually based on the 2015 comic book series of the same name created by Jeremy haun and Jason A.
