Arsenal face Grueling Holiday Schedule Following League Cup Quarter-Final Postponement
Arsenal will navigate a demanding fixture list over the Christmas and New Year period after their League Cup quarter-final match against Crystal Palace was rescheduled. Originally slated for December 16th or 17th, the game will now take place a week later, a change prompted by Crystal Palace’s participation in the UEFA conference League.
League Cup organizers adjusted the schedule to alleviate pressure on Crystal Palace, who faced the prospect of playing four matches in eight days between December 11th and 18th. While the postponement offers a slight betterment, Crystal Palace will still be required to play four games in ten days, from december 18th to 28th, including back-to-back contests against Leeds United and Arsenal.
Arsenal’s schedule is similarly congested. from December 21st to 31st, the “Gunners” will play four games in ten days, with consecutive matches against Everton and Crystal Palace just two days apart.
This revised schedule means Arsenal will play four games during this period, an increase from the originally planned three. Manager Mikel Arteta has voiced his displeasure, labeling the decision “unfair” and calling for ”fair treatment for all teams.”
Arsenal supporters have also expressed frustration, arguing that their team shouldn’t be impacted by the scheduling concerns of another club. The demanding schedule presents a notable challenge for Arsenal as they compete on multiple fronts during the busy holiday season.
