Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Target Yan Diomande and Eye Liverpool Talent

August 15, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

After losing primary target Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, the Gunners have shifted focus toward RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and are managing ongoing discussions with Liverpool regarding a forward agreement, according to the London Evening Standard and Metro.

The Shift to Yan Diomande After Morgan Rogers Deal

Arsenal’s tactical priorities shifted abruptly after Chelsea agreed to a £117 million deal with Aston Villa for 23-year-old Morgan Rogers, according to Metro. Rogers was cited as Mikel Arteta’s top attacking target for the summer window. In response, Arsenal has entered a competitive race for Yan Diomande, a 19-year-old at RB Leipzig. Fabrizio Romano reported via his YouTube channel that Arsenal has made inquiries with Diomande’s agents to determine if an entry into the deal remains possible.

The financial barrier for Diomande is significant. RB Leipzig maintains a valuation of €120 million (£102m), per Metro. The winger’s productivity last season—12 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga—makes him a high-value asset, but he has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, who are currently in active negotiations with Leipzig. Arsenal’s pursuit represents a secondary attempt to fill the void left by the Rogers collapse, though they also remain attentive to the situation involving Julian Alvarez and Barcelona should Atletico Madrid decide to sell the player in August, Romano added.

Liverpool Negotiations and Youth Recruitment

Concurrent with the Leipzig pursuit, Arsenal has reached an agreement to sign a forward from Liverpool, as reported by the London Evening Standard. While the senior deal progresses, talkSPORT reports that Arsenal is also moving to poach a 16-year-old Liverpool “wonderkid,” signaling a broader strategy to recruit talent from the Merseyside club. This recruitment drive comes amid a complex legal landscape; This Is Anfield reports that a previous transfer between Liverpool and Arsenal has gone to a tribunal, with a £5m precedent already established.

Tactical Implications and Market Volatility

The loss of Morgan Rogers is described by Fabrizio Romano as a “big blow” for Arsenal, noting that the club did not expect the player to join Chelsea.
