Arnaud De Lie’s Triple Flat Tire in GP Denain – Video
Arnaud De Lie suffered three punctures within the first 20 kilometers of the GP de Denain on Tuesday, effectively ending his chances in the race, according to reports. The Lotto-Intermarché rider, a sprinter and classics specialist, experienced repeated mechanical issues on the cobbled roads of northern France.
The GP de Denain, a semi-classic known for its challenging terrain and unpredictable conditions, saw De Lie’s campaign derailed early. The race, which began at 11:20 CET and was expected to finish around 15:45 CET, presented immediate difficulties for the Belgian.
De Lie began the winter training period recovering from an ankle injury, but had appeared to be in good form leading up to the race. Recent reports indicated a positive outlook for the 24-year-old, with his team seemingly having learned from previous unsuccessful spring campaigns. Though, the string of punctures cast doubt on his current condition and luck.
The Lotto-Intermarché team has faced challenges in recent seasons, including relegation to the second division despite De Lie’s strong performance in 2022, where he secured nine victories. He followed that up with a win at the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana 1969 in 2023, and further stage wins at the Étoile de Bessèges.
De Lie’s major victories include the Renewi Tour in 2025, the Danmark Rundt in 2024, the National Road Race Championships in 2024, the Bretagne Classic in 2025, the GP de Québec in 2023, the Circuit Franco-Belge in 2023, the GP de Wallonie in 2025, the Super 8 Classic in 2025, and the GP du Morbihan in 2023. He also won the Tro-Bro Léon in 2024.
As of Wednesday, March 20th, no official statement has been released by Lotto-Intermarché regarding the cause of the punctures or De Lie’s condition. The team is scheduled to continue racing in the coming weeks, with De Lie’s participation in future events currently unconfirmed.
