Army West Point Hockey Edges Bentley in Shootout Victory

WALTHAM, Mass. – The ‌Army West Point‌ men’s hockey team battled to a 3-3 tie against Bentley Friday night at‍ Bentley‌ Arena, securing an⁢ extra Atlantic Hockey point with a shootout goal from Nils ⁤forselius.

Army jumped to a 2-1⁣ lead early in the second⁤ period⁤ thanks to⁣ a⁢ goal from⁣ n>, but Bentley answered with a‌ late power play‍ goal to ⁤tie ⁢the⁢ game ⁤at two heading into the second intermission. The Falcons then‍ took the lead with another power​ play goal four and a half minutes into the third. Army responded mid-way through ‌the period with a goal from Barron Woodring, ‌set up by passes from Forselius and Jack Ivey, tying the game at three.

Despite a flurry of shots from both teams,including a ‌barrage⁤ against Army goaltender ​Gavin Cataldo during ⁣overtime,the score ​remained tied. Forselius​ ultimately sealed the victory for the Black Knights with the lone goal in the shootout.

Cataldo ⁢finished with‌ 36 saves,marking his ⁤fourth game this season with at‌ least 30 saves. Bentley outshot Army 39-31, but the Black Knights were ⁣more efficient, posting a ⁤.097 shots percentage compared to Bentley’s .077. Forselius,Woodring,and‍ Ivey each recorded multi-point performances.

The tie brings Army’s all-time record against Bentley⁣ to 38-37-16, dating back to‌ 1981.The two teams‌ will​ meet again‍ Sunday, Nov. 9th, at Tate Rink with⁤ puck drop ⁢scheduled⁤ for 2 p.m. ET.
