Billy Batten of Army West Point has been named Atlantic Hockey America Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday, following a four-point performance against Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Batten, a freshman forward from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, registered three assists in Army’s 6-2 victory over RIT on Friday night, including primary assists on two goals, one of which was Adam Marshall’s game-winning tally. He followed that up with a power-play goal in Saturday’s contest, opening the scoring for the Black Knights.

Army secured a series win over RIT despite a 3-2 overtime loss on Saturday, earning a total of four points in the two-game set. The Black Knights’ offense was potent throughout the weekend, outscoring the Tigers 20-13, with eight goals to RIT’s five.

Army goaltender JJ Cataldo played a key role in the weekend’s success, saving 30 of 32 shots in Friday’s win and demonstrating strong performances throughout the series. RIT’s Jakub Krbecek faced 34 shots across both games, making 28 saves.

The Black Knights will next face Bentley University on Tuesday, February 10th, at 7 p.m. ET in Waltham, Massachusetts. This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams this season.
