Arjun Rajput scores 107 as India score 208 against Pakistan in U19 Asia Cup

November 8, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

India posted 208 all out in 46.3 overs against Pakistan in a Group A ACC Under-19 Asia Cup match on Sunday in Al Amerat, Oman, after losing their first four wickets for just 42 runs, according to The New Indian Express.

Arjun Rajput Stabilizes Innings After Top-Order Collapse

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India suffered an immediate top-order collapse. The New Indian Express reported that skipper Lakshya Raichandani, Aryaveer Sehwag, who contributed 22 runs, VK Vineeth, and Yashbardhan Chauhan departed in quick succession during the disastrous opening phase.

Middle-order batter Arjun Rajput halted the slide with a counter-attacking 107 off 85 balls. His innings featured 11 boundaries and five sixes. Rajput shared a 44-run partnership with wicketkeeper Anvay Dravid, who scored 10 runs, followed by a 64-run stand with Manal Chauhan, who added 11 runs. Rajput maintained the scoring rate through both partnerships before falling in the 36th order with the team total at 170 for seven, according to The New Indian Express.

The lower order absorbed further pressure as Yashveer Goud and Mohit Ulva fell quickly, dropping India to 195 for nine. A final 13-run contribution from Kavya Prasad Patel, who scored 23, and last man Ishan Sood, who finished unbeaten on 2, pushed the total past the 200-run threshold.

Pakistan Bowling Attack Derails Lower Order

Pakistan’s bowling unit capitalized on the early breakthroughs to keep the total below standard. PTI reported that right-arm medium pacers Ali Raza and Rizwanullah did the early damage by picking up three wickets each, conceding 37 and 24 runs respectively. Slow left-arm orthodox spinner Niqab Shafiq dismantled the middle order with figures of 3/42 from his spell, while left-arm medium pacer Mohammad Sayam claimed 1/27 to dismiss the final Indian batsman.

With a target of 209 required for victory, India’s bowling attack faces immediate pressure to restrict Pakistan and defend the sub-par total in Group A play.
