Argus Schwerin,Region’s largest Sports Club,to Break Ground on New Multi-Purpose Building
SCHWERIN,december 5,2023 – Argus Schwerin, the largest sports club in Schwerin with approximately 2,500 members, will begin construction on a new multi-purpose building next year, bolstered by a nearly €500,000 grant from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. This follows previous state funding of around €1 million for the club’s dedicated water exercise pool.
Founded 35 years ago as the senior sports department of SSC, Argus has evolved into a key provider of sports and rehabilitation programs throughout the region. state Secretary Sylvia Grimm marked the club’s anniversary on Thursday, December 4th, recognizing the vital role argus plays in the community.
“this shows the need for such offers and the excellent work of the numerous volunteer trainers and supervisors,” Grimm stated.
Argus specializes in programs for seniors and individuals undergoing rehabilitation, offering a diverse range of activities including gymnastics, water aerobics, cardiovascular training, pulmonary sports, yoga, aqua jogging, and wheelchair basketball. The club caters to those starting exercise later in life, managing chronic illnesses, or recovering from medical procedures.
“You will all find the conditions here to take part according to your own abilities or any limitations,” Grimm affirmed.
Argus currently utilizes its own training hall and water exercise pool to deliver its programs. The new building will expand the club’s capacity to serve the growing demand for its specialized services.
