Young Star Takes Lead in New Atomic Monster Horror
Eight-year-old Arabella Olivia Clark to headline ‘Other Mommy’
Prepare to be unsettled: eight-year-old Arabella Olivia Clark, recently seen in *Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere*, has secured the starring role in Universal and Atomic Monster’s chilling new supernatural horror film, *Other Mommy*. Directed by the acclaimed Rob Savage, the project promises to tap into primal fears.
A Frightening New Family Dynamic
Clark will portray Bela, an 8-year-old whose life is shattered by a sinister entity she dubs “Other Mommy.” The film, an adaptation of Josh Malerman‘s novel *Incidents Around the House*, explores Bela’s struggle against this malevolent presence that emerges from her closet, persistently inquiring, “Can I go inside your heart?” As Other Mommy’s manifestations grow more aggressive, the safety of Bela’s family hangs precariously in the balance, amplified by her parents’ strained marriage.
She joins a cast that already boasts talent such as Jessica Chastain, Jay Duplass, and Dichen Lachman, setting the stage for a powerhouse ensemble in the genre.
Behind the Scenes of Terror
Produced by Atomic Monster/Blumhouse in association with Spin a Black Yarn, the film features a screenplay adapted by Nathan Elston, known for his work on *Succession*. The production team includes producers James Wan, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, Rob Savage, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing for Atomic Monster.
Supernatural horror continues to dominate the genre landscape. A recent study indicated that horror films saw a 15% increase in box office revenue in 2023 compared to the previous year (Comscore 2024).
Rising Star’s Momentum
This pivotal role marks a significant step for Clark, who has already made waves with three major film appearances in 2024. Her credits include playing Bruce Springsteen’s sister, Virginia, in *Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere*; Young Polly in 20th’s remake of *The Hand that Rocks the Cradle*; and a role in Lionsgate’s thriller *The Housemaid*, alongside Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar. Prior to these projects, Clark appeared on ABC’s *Not Dead Yet*. She is represented by the Osbrink Agency, Brave Artists Management, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
