Apple TV+ Delays ‘The Hunt’ Launch Amid Plagiarism Claims
Apple TV+ has postponed the release of it’s new thriller series, The Hunt (French title: À l’Ombre des Forêts), following allegations of plagiarism. The series, starring Magimel as Franck, centers on a group of hunters who find themselves targeted after a hunting trip.
The concerns stem from similarities between The Hunt and the 1973 thriller shoot, written by Douglas fairbairn and later adapted into a film starring cliff Robertson and Ernest Borgnine. A synopsis of Shoot details a hunting trip gone wrong when a group encounters a rival band of hunters, resulting in a shooting and subsequent fear of retribution – a plot closely mirroring that of The Hunt.
French media expert Clément Garin first reported the allegations,as detailed by AppleInsider on Tuesday.
This is not the first time Apple TV+ has delayed a launch this year. The Jessica Chastain series The Savant was postponed just three days before its scheduled September air date following the shooting of rightwing activist Charlie Kirk.Chastain, who plays a top-secret investigator tracking hate groups, publicly expressed disagreement with the delay, stating on Instagram, “I’ve never shied away from difficult subjects…The Savant is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens.” The Savant remains without a new release date.
Apple TV and Gaumont have been contacted for comment.
