Apple Arcade Adds New Games & Disney SpellStruck Update – March 2024
Apple Arcade is expanding its game library with three new titles launching April 2, including award-winning indie games and fan favorites, the tech giant announced Tuesday. The additions – DREDGE+, Unpacking+, and My Remarkably Hungry Caterpillar+ – come alongside updates to existing games, including a Star Wars-themed expansion for Disney SpellStruck.
DREDGE+, named iPad Game of the Year for 2025 by the App Store, offers a complete edition of the acclaimed fishing adventure, incorporating all previously released downloadable content: The Pale Reach, The Iron Rig, Blackstone Key, and a custom rod. Players navigate eerie archipelagos, dredge up treasures, and uncover maritime mysteries, according to Apple.
Unpacking+, a 2023 App Store Awards Cultural Impact winner developed by Witch Beam, is a zen puzzle game centered around unpacking belongings and arranging them in a new home. The game invites players to create a satisfying living space while uncovering clues about the life they are building, Apple stated.
Rounding out the new releases is My Very Hungry Caterpillar+, developed by StoryToys, an interactive experience based on Eric Carle’s beloved children’s book. Players nurture and care for a caterpillar as it grows and transforms into a butterfly.
Beyond the new additions, Apple Arcade users can look forward to updates to existing titles. Disney SpellStruck will receive a Star Wars crossover on March 19, introducing Adventure Mode levels inspired by Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, and adding Darth Vader and Lando Calrissian as playable characters, according to a separate announcement on March 11.
Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop will also receive a new game mode, Puyo Puyo Garden, on April 9, celebrating the franchise’s 35th anniversary. This new mode allows players to grow and battle with unique Puyo characters.
Apple Arcade is available for $149 per month, with a one-month free trial. Subscribers who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV are eligible for a three-month free trial. The service is also included as part of Apple One individual ($369/month) and family ($449/month) plans, also with a one-month free trial. Apple Arcade Original games are playable on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, while “games from the App Store” are available on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro. A family sharing option allows up to six members to access the entire game catalog.
