Anvisa Bans Sales of ‘Los Nobles’ olive Oil and ‘Zempyc‘ Weight Loss Supplement
BRASÍLIA – Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has ordered the seizure of “Los Nobles” olive oil and the weight loss supplement “Zempyc” nationwide, prohibiting their sale, distribution, import, advertising, and use. The resolution, published in the Federal Official Gazette this Tuesday (16), stems from concerns over the products’ origins and potential health risks.
Both products are considered too be of clandestine origin. “los Nobles” olive oil lacks authorization from anvisa or registration with Argentina’s National management of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat), the agency responsible for regulating such products in Argentina. “Zempyc,” marketed online and through social media, promises weight loss but has an unknown composition and utilizes misleading advertising claims, including fat burning, appetite reduction, and increased metabolism.
Anvisa’s action against “Zempyc” was prompted by the finding that the product’s label falsely associated it with a pharmaceutical company which confirmed it does not manufacture or control any product under that name. The agency emphasizes the risks associated with consuming products of unknown origin and composition, particularly those making unsubstantiated health claims. Consumers who have purchased either product are advised to discontinue use.
