Anthony Davis, the 10-time NBA All-Star, is now a member of the Washington Wizards following a nine-player, three-team trade finalized on February 6, 2026, according to NBA.com. The deal sends Davis, along with Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum, to Washington in exchange for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Tyus Jones, Marvin Bagley III, a 2026 first-round pick (via Oklahoma City), a 2030 first-round pick (via Golden State), and three future second-round picks.
The move marks a swift complete to Davis’s tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, barely a year after he arrived in a blockbuster trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers, as reported by ESPN. That initial trade, engineered by former Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison, was met with fan backlash and ultimately led to Harrison’s firing in November, according to ESPN. The current trade appears to signal a complete reset for the Mavericks following the Dončić departure.
Davis, averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over 20 games this season, has been plagued by injuries, a trend that has followed him throughout his recent career, according to Athlon Sports. He hasn’t played since January 8th due to a left hand injury and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
The trade as well sees Khris Middleton head to Dallas, although Charlotte acquires Malaki Branham. The Charlotte Hornets also conveyed guard Tyus Jones to the Dallas Mavericks as part of the agreement.
Davis’s previous home, a sprawling Bel-Air mansion, is now on the market for $39.9 million, according to Realtor.com. The 17,000-square-foot estate features eight bedrooms, 8.5 bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, a theater room, basketball and tennis courts, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool, all situated on 3.5 acres of land.
The Los Angeles Lakers initially acquired Davis in 2019, where he partnered with LeBron James to win the 2020 NBA championship. He spent seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans before joining the Lakers.
The Wizards have not yet announced a date for Davis’s debut with the team.
