Angola: Protests Over Fuel Price Hikes

Luanda, Angola – Taxi drivers in Angola are set to observe a three-day national strike from July 28th to July 30th. The National Association of Angola Taxi Drivers (Anata) announced the action, citing “actual difficulties facing thousands of workers in the sector daily” as the basis for this “sovereign decision of the working class.”

This planned strike follows recent protests in the Angolan capital, Luanda, where hundreds of citizens took to the streets on Saturday to voice their strong opposition to escalating fuel prices and the rising cost of living. The demonstrations highlight growing public discontent wiht economic conditions in the country.
