Anglet Hormadi Fall to Grenoble Despite Strong Start
Anglet Hormadi suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Grenoble on Friday evening, despite a valiant defensive effort in the first period. Following a challenging game against Briançon earlier in the week, Stéphane Barin’s team initially held their own, keeping the score level at 0-0 thanks to an outstanding performance from goaltender Nathael Imperial Flowers.
However, the strength of the league-leading Grenoble proved too much to overcome. Anglet found themselves under constant pressure from the opening face-off, spending much of the first period defending. Despite 20 shots on goal from Grenoble in the first frame, Anglet’s defense, supported by Fleuret‘s 37 saves, managed to withstand the onslaught and reach the first intermission scoreless.
The second period saw Grenoble break through.Pontus Englund opened the scoring with a powerful shot from the blue line, quickly followed by two more goals within ten minutes, giving Grenoble a agreeable lead. Samuel Rousseau briefly reignited Anglet’s hopes with a goal, but Grenoble responded with two further scores before the period ended.
The third period continued to see Anglet pinned in their own zone, unable to capitalize on limited offensive opportunities. They were ultimately unable to find a way past the grenoble goalkeeper and were punished while playing shorthanded.
With two wins in five games, Anglet currently sits in seventh place in the championship standings. They will look to rebound next Tuesday when they host Bordeaux in their first derby match of the season.
