Andrew Garfield Reacts to Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer – On Mute!

March 23, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Actor Andrew Garfield revealed he recently watched the first trailer for the upcoming Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though he did so on mute to avoid disturbing colleagues during a makeup session. The revelation came during an interview captured in a clip posted to Instagram by Hey U Guys.

“I watched it, yes. I haven’t watched it with sound yet,” Garfield said. “Because I was on a makeup chair so I couldn’t disturb other people. But yeah it looks really cool.”

The trailer, unveiled on March 18, 2026, became the most-watched trailer of all time within its first 24 hours, garnering over 718 million views, according to Marvel. The film, slated for release on July 31, 2026, will be the 38th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the fourth Spider-Man film within the MCU, following Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. The film’s synopsis details a story where Parker, having erased himself from the memories of loved ones, operates as Spider-Man in a New York City unaware of his identity. He investigates a new threat while experiencing a potentially dangerous evolution of his superpowers.

Garfield’s previous return as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home involved a year of concealing his involvement, fueling speculation about potential future appearances. While Brand New Day is not currently positioned as a multiversal story, the trailer’s release has nonetheless sparked renewed discussion about the possibility of Garfield reprising his role, potentially in future Avengers films.

The trailer features appearances by Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film. Sony Pictures is distributing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with production handled by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios, and Pascal Pictures.
