Boxer Ronald Gavril Slams ‘Beach, Please!’ Vulgarity
Athlete Calls for Renewed Focus on National Values After Offensive On-Stage Remark
Professional boxer Ronald Gavril has voiced his strong disapproval of a recent incident at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinești, where an artist’s offensive remarks about Romania shocked attendees.
Artist’s Outburst Sparks Public Outrage
During the event, organized by influencer Selly, artist Albert NBN directed a vulgar and insulting statement towards Romania in front of thousands, including minors. This display has ignited widespread criticism.
Gavril Feels Deeply Insulted
Ronald Gavril, a prominent sportsman who competes internationally for Romania, expressed his personal offense. He believes the incident highlights a broader societal issue concerning a decline in national pride and ethical standards.
“I can’t pretend that it didn’t hurt. When I heard what was told about Romania on the Beach stage, I felt, I felt insulted. As a sportsman who bleeds in the ring to raise the flag of this country, without asking for anything in return from the state, only in the hope that my work and sacrifice will inspire… it was difficult to digest.”

Education and Values Cited as Root Cause
Calming down from his initial reaction, Gavril suggested that the true problem lies not in isolated incidents, but in a fundamental lack of emphasis on education and core values. He pointed to a societal drift away from respect and a sense of belonging.
“But after I calmed down, I understood a deeper truth: The scandal is not the problem, but the lack of education. What we live now is a direct result of the fact that we no longer emphasize values. On respect. On belonging.”

According to a recent UNESCO report, education systems worldwide are increasingly challenged to instill civic values and national identity in youth amidst globalization (UNESCO, 2023).
A Call for a Return to National Pride
Gavril stressed the importance of teaching younger generations what Romania truly signifies, emphasizing inspiration through tangible examples of effort and patriotism rather than mere rhetoric.
“Our children should be learned what Romania really means. Not through speeches, but through models, effort and country love. And maybe here we should start our fight: in education, not in the ring.”
