Ana Guiomar says car burglary and missed court notices led to detention
Portuguese actress Ana Guiomar revealed on the podcast Não Sei Ser, hosted by Joana Gama, that her car was once broken into and she was eventually detained in a cell at the DIAP after failing to respond to court notices sent to an old address.
Court Summons Sent to an Old Address Sparked the Detention
Guiomar explained that the incident began while she was still filming the television project Festa é Festa. Following a yoga session she attended alongside fellow actress Maria Botelho Moniz, Guiomar returned to her vehicle with the trunk open while changing clothes and inadvertently left a bag behind. When she returned with Moniz, she discovered the car had been burglarized.
The actress filed a police report regarding the theft, but subsequent legal notices from the court were sent to her previous residence because she had not updated her address. Guiomar stated that she learned about the pending legal matters much later, adding in an ironic tone that the country’s justice system moves exceptionally fast. Her failure to answer the mailed notices escalated the situation until law enforcement officers arrived directly at her studio to retrieve her.
A Cell Visit Featuring a Pink Beaded Headband
Authorities took Guiomar to the DIAP, where she spent approximately two to three hours inside a holding cell. Describing the episode, she recalled wearing a pink beaded headband and thinking she looked quite nice despite the circumstances. She noted that an official warned her during a phone call that failing to turn up voluntarily could result in her being caught during a weekend traffic stop and left in custody overnight.
Guiomar ultimately paid a fine to resolve the matter resulting from the missed court appearances. The discussion on Joana Gama’s podcast also touched on other personal milestones, including her upcoming role as a godparent alongside partner Jorge Lopes Valsassina for the son of another prominent figure.
