Amy Schumer, 44, Shares weight Loss Journey, Credits Mounjaro and Hormone Therapy
LOS ANGELES – Comedian Amy Schumer, 44, has publicly discussed her recent weight loss and credited the medication Mounjaro, alongside hormone therapy, for her positive experience. Schumer detailed her journey in a recent interview, revealing she initially tried Ozempic but “couldn’t handle it.”
Schumer’s openness about her health and weight loss comes as the use of medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro for weight management continues to gain attention, sparking conversations about body image, health, and access to these treatments. The actress’s experience offers a personal perspective on navigating perimenopause and utilizing medical interventions to address related symptoms.
“I couldn’t handle it. I don’t know if thay’ve changed the formula or whatever… but anyway, I went on this telehealth meeting with MidiHealth, and it was cheap. I wanted to try it myself, cause I wanted to recommend it to my friends who are like nurses and teachers,” Schumer explained. She then transitioned to Mounjaro, stating, “I’m having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that.”
in addition to Mounjaro, an injectable medication primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes, Schumer has incorporated hormone therapy into her routine. “They put me on estrogen and progesterone as I realized I was in perimenopause and my symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared,” she said. “My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy, I want to get down more if you know what I meen – I’m talking about sex.”
