Amazon Raises Prices on Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle Devices by Up to 60%
Amazon has increased the prices of several hardware lines in the United States, including Echo smart speakers, Fire TV streaming devices, and Kindle e-readers, by as much as 60%. The adjustments follow a severe global crunch in memory and storage components that has driven up manufacturing costs across the consumer electronics sector.
Hardware Costs Surge Up to 60 Percent Across Amazon Lineup
The price changes were detected across retail listings and subsequently confirmed by the company. According to Kristy Schmidt, senior lead for Amazon’s Devices and Services division, speaking to The Verge, the consumer electronics industry is facing significant cost increases for memory and storage components. Schmidt stated that after absorbing those cost spikes for as long as possible, the company recently adjusted prices across its product line.
Echo Speakers and Displays Bear the Heaviest Increases
The changes hit entry-level products hardest. The Echo Dot increased from 49,99 dólares a 79,99 dólares, marking a 60% jump. The Echo Dot Max rose from 99,99 dólares a 119,99 dólares, a 20% increase, while the Echo Show 11 climbed from 219,99 dólares a 249,99 dólares. The larger Echo Show 21 jumped by 100 dólares to 499,99 dólares.
Fire TV Sticks and Kindle Readers See Steep Adjustments
In the streaming category, the Fire TV Stick HD moved from 34,99 dólares a 39,99 dólares, an increase of roughly 14%. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max went from 59,99 dólares a 84,99 dólares, an increase exceeding 40%. Kindle e-readers also saw substantial movement. The 16GB entry-level Kindle rose from 109,99 dólares a 149,99 dólares, nearly a 37% increase, while the Kindle Paperwhite 16GB went from 159,99 dólares a 199,99 dólares.
Routers Face Price Hikes While Ring and Studio Hold Steady
Hardware accessories were not spared. A three-pack of eero 7 routers climbed from 349,99 dólares a 399,99 dólares, and a three-pack of eero Pro 7 routers rose from 699,99 dólares a 799,99 dólares. Not every item in the ecosystem shifted; Ring video doorbells, security cameras, and the high-end Echo Studio speaker maintained their existing prices.
Global Component Shortages Upend Consumer Electronics
The broader technology market is grappling with the same component shortages. Artificial intelligence data centers have heavily absorbed global memory supply, leaving less production capacity for consumer electronics and forcing manufacturers to pay substantially higher prices for RAM and flash storage. Other major hardware brands, including Apple, Microsoft, and Dell, have implemented similar price adjustments on consumer devices over recent months.
