Amanda Seyfried “So Amused” by Early Cut of Psychological Thriller “The Cleaning Lady“
LAS VEGAS – Amanda Seyfried says she found herself “so amused” watching a recent edit of the upcoming psychological suspense film, The Cleaning Lady, based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel. Seyfried stars alongside Sydney Sweeney in the adaptation, directed by paul Feig, set for release in Canada on December 24, 2025.
The actress revealed during a Variety interview that the film offered a welcome change of pace and a chance to play a character unlike any she’s portrayed recently. “We looked at it the other evening and I had never amused myself so much in a movie theater – I don’t know when I laughed so much for the last time,” Seyfried stated. “And it was my own film.”
Seyfried plays Nina, whose home is cleaned by Sweeney’s character, Millie, alongside her husband Andrew. She described the role as a chance to embrace an “eccentric and crazy character” and likened the film to ”a party.” The positive experience has even sparked a desire to pursue more comedic roles following intense projects like the television drama Long Bright river and the past musical The Testament of Ann Lee.
“Honestly, I love this film so much that I could sneak after the Christmas meal and go see it,” Seyfried joked, indicating her enthusiasm for the project. The Cleaning Lady also stars Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone.
