Sky Soar Over Wings, Extend Winning Streak
Allen’s Career Night Propels Chicago
In a dominant performance, the Chicago Sky defeated the Dallas Wings 87-76, marking their third victory over Dallas this season and showcasing a potent offense led by Rebecca Allen. Her standout performance, combined with strong contributions across the board, proved too much for the short-handed Wings.
Key Performances
Rebecca Allen had a season-best 27 points, which included five 3-pointers and three blocks. Angel Reese secured her 13th double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Rachel Banham added 11 points for Chicago (6-13).
Dallas (6-15) saw Li Yueru score 18 points and grab 10 rebounds, while rookie All-Star Paige Bueckers contributed 17 points. JJ Quinerly also added 16 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Chicago’s balanced attack.
As noted by StatMuse, Angel Reese is currently third in the WNBA for total rebounds this season, underscoring her impact on the Sky’s performance (StatMuse).
Turning Point
After a close first half, Allen ignited a 13-2 run in the third quarter with two 3-pointers and a long jumper, giving Chicago a 67-57 lead with just 2:20 remaining in the period. Chicago never looked back after that.
Although Quinerly hit a free throw making it a six-point game late in the fourth, Reese responded with a layup and a three-point play, securing the victory for the Sky at 87-76.
Allie Quigley’s Jersey Retirement
At halftime, the Sky honored Allie Quigley by retiring her number. Quigley, a native of Joliet, Illinois, played college ball at DePaul and dedicated 10 seasons to Chicago, leading them to their first WNBA title in 2021. Her No. 14 jersey is the first retired by the Sky.
Looking Ahead
The Sky will host Minnesota on Saturday, while the Wings will conclude their three-game road trip at Indiana on Sunday.
