Alejandra Rubio Quits TV: Pregnancy, Finances & Career Change

March 25, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Alejandra Rubio, daughter of Spanish television personality Terelu Campos, announced her decision to leave Telecinco on Tuesday, citing the toll that public scrutiny and criticism have taken on her well-being, particularly during her pregnancy. The announcement came just days after Rubio revealed she is expecting her second child with Carlo Costanzia.

Rubio stated she felt unsupported by the network and that the constant negative attention was detrimental to her health. “continue dealing with the situation. There are times when you have to stop,” she said, according to reporting from La Razón. “I thought I would wait a little longer, but I have nothing to wait for, I have to suppose about myself.”

The decision follows a period of intense media focus on Rubio and Costanzia, including criticism related to the announcement of her pregnancy. According to Hola.com, Rubio expressed feeling as though she had “no one protecting” her within the television industry.

Several commentators on the program Más Espejo analyzed Rubio’s decision. Gemma López, a co-presenter, suggested that Rubio’s voluntary participation in interviews contributed to the subsequent criticism. Sergio Pérez, another collaborator, speculated that Rubio may be facing complications with her pregnancy that she has not publicly disclosed, potentially influencing her decision to step away from television. Isabel Rábago, also a collaborator, stated that Rubio had “assumed that it is not congruent with her life and she does not like the life she leads.”

Financial implications of Rubio’s departure were also discussed. According to Ismael García Villarejo, a financial journalist cited by La Razón, Rubio and Costanzia jointly earned €200,000 in the past year and should carefully manage their finances in light of the loss of income.

In a segment on Más Espejo, Jesús Ripoll assisted in creating a sample curriculum vitae for Rubio, advising her to only include completed qualifications and to emphasize her most recent experiences, particularly highlighting her communication skills through video examples.
