live from the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali.
Alec Co-Wrote the French Entry for Youth Music Competition
Sixteen countries competed in the 24th edition of the youth music competition, which features performers aged 9 to 14. France entered the evening aiming for its fifth victory in the contest following Lou Deleuze’s win the previous year. Alec, a young musician from the Ain region who reached the final of The Voice Kids on TF1 as part of team Santa, co-wrote his entry with Malo’, marking the first time a French contestant co-wrote and co-composed their own song for the event.
The running order placed the Netherlands’ Maria with Stronger Together
first, followed by Cyprus, Portugal, Montenegro, Saint-Marin, France, Poland, Armenia, Malta, Italy, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Ireland, Albania, Georgia, and Spain. The event adopted a Festa
theme inspired by traditional Maltese village celebrations.
French Viewers Vote for Their Own Representative
Unlike the adult Eurovision contest, viewers in France were permitted to vote for their own country’s representative. Voting operated across two distinct timeframes: the first window opened on Friday, October 23, at 23:59 and closed on Saturday, October 24, at 20:59, just one minute before the broadcast began on France 4 and france.tv. The platform then reopened for 15 minutes after all sixteen competing acts finished performing. Voting remained strictly closed during the performances themselves, requiring online voters to select three acts via jesc.tv. Public votes and national jury scores counted equally toward the final result.
France Hosted Junior Eurovision After Previous Wins
While previous French wins led to domestic hosting in Paris in 2021 and Nice in 2023, Junior Eurovision rules do not obligate the winning broadcaster to host the following year, allowing France Télévisions to manage production logistics accordingly. Prior French winners include Valentine in 2020 with J’imagine
, Lissandro in 2022 with Oh Maman !
, and Zoé Clauzure in 2023 with Coeur
, alongside Lou Deleuze’s 2025 victory.
Alec Draws Influence from Elton John and Mika
Alec started playing the piano at the age of five. He participated in an end-of-2025 special edition of the France 2 game show N’oubliez pas les paroles titled N’oubliez pas les enfants. His musical influences for his entry include Elton John and Mika, alongside Bruno Mars. In the lead-up to the broadcast, online poll results featured Cyprus, Poland, Ukraine, Spain, and North Macedonia in the leading positions.
