Abelito Declines Share of ‘The House of Famous Mexico‘ Prize money
Mexico City – Abelito, finishing in third place on The House of Famous Mexico 2025, has announced he will forgo any portion of the prize money awarded to winner Aldo de Nigris. The surprising declaration comes as details emerge regarding the significant tax burden levied on the show’s winnings.
The grand prize for The House of Famous Mexico is 4 million pesos, but the actual amount received by the victor is significantly reduced due to Mexican income tax laws.According to the Income Tax Law, contest winnings are considered taxable income. The Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) retains approximately 1.2 million pesos, comprised of a fixed fee of 392,294 pesos and an additional 34% tax, totaling around 1.24 million pesos. This leaves the winner with approximately 2,759,000 pesos.
While the financial impact of Abelito’s decision is not publicly known, it underscores a gesture of sportsmanship and personal values following a highly competitive season. The final rankings of The House of Famous Mexico 2025 were: Aldo de Nigris (Winner), Dalilah Polanco (Second Place), Abelito (Third Place), Shike Clement (Fourth Place), and Mar Contreras (Fifth Place). Alexis Ayala was eliminated as the sixth finalist prior to the final gala.
