Blue Jays Even ALCS with Dominant 12-2 Win Over Mariners in game 3
SEATTLE – The Toronto Blue Jays emphatically leveled the American League Championship Series at 2-2 with a commanding 12-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday, October 15, 2025. After dropping the first two games in Toronto, the Blue Jays responded with a powerful offensive display, highlighted by multiple home runs and aggressive hitting that exposed vulnerabilities in the Mariners’ pitching.
Seattle had previously held Toronto to just four runs across the first two games of the series. However, the Blue Jays’ bats came alive in Game 3, particularly against Mariners starter George Kirby. Kirby, who had not surrendered more than two runs in any of his prior three postseason starts, struggled with location and velocity as Toronto’s hitters capitalized on mistakes.
The Blue Jays broke a 2-2 tie with a five-run third inning, fueled by hard-hit balls. Andrés Giménez sparked the rally with a two-run home run to right field, turning on a fastball that Kirby intended to pitch up-and-in but missed his spot. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. followed with a double, and after a walk to Alejandro Kirk,a wild pitch scored another run. Daulton Varsho then extended the lead with a 110-mph double.
Toronto continued to pour on the offense. George Springer launched a 431-foot home run in the fourth, and Guerrero added another in the fifth. Alejandro Kirk sealed the victory with a three-run homer in the sixth off reliever Caleb Ferguson, pushing the score to 12-2.
“I wasn’t really executing when they got the guys on base, and they’re really aggressive when that happens,” Kirby said. “So they made some good swings, and I wasn’t really making a lot of good pitches there in the third and fourth.”
The mariners managed a late rally with back-to-back home runs from Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh in the eighth, but the deficit was insurmountable.
“They’re here for a reason too. They’re a really good team … and they came out swinging today,” said Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez. “But it’s one game. And, like, we certainly know and they know that we’ve got to line up tomorrow and play a baseball game again.”
