According⁣ to court records, the incident unfolded with Ruaud ‍allegedly initiating physical ‌aggression by repeatedly slapping the victim on the head.

⁢ The situation escalated⁤ when the partner​ attempted to defend ​herself, resulting in a severe beating.⁤ The victim subsequently required intensive care ‌treatment‌ for three broken ribs and was diagnosed with ⁣10 days ​of Incapacity to Work (ITT), ‌according to official reports presented to the court.

Defendant Expresses Remorse,‍ Cites Alcohol Addiction

‌ During the hearing,⁣ Ruaud expressed deep ​regret for his ‌actions, stating, “I went vrey ‌far.” He indicated a commitment to abstain from alcohol, a decision coinciding ‍with ⁣a ‍blood alcohol content reading of 2 ⁤grams per liter⁣ at the time of the incident.

⁣ ⁣ Ruaud stated he would refrain from returning to‍ the shared residence until he ​completes addiction⁢ treatment,even though his partner has reportedly expressed a desire for his return⁣ and has not filed a formal complaint.

Legal Arguments and Prosecution Concerns

⁣ Adeline​ Girardin, Ruaud’s lawyer, appealed to the court to ⁢consider a sentance⁤ that​ would not impede ⁢his progress in seeking treatment, arguing against ⁣imprisonment. ‌however, the prosecution, led by Nicolas ‍Petriat, voiced skepticism regarding Ruaud’s‍ commitment to‍ change.

⁣ ⁢ Petriat emphasized the “very brutality” of⁣ the assault and highlighted⁢ Ruaud’s prior criminal record,which includes two previous convictions for violence,as well‍ as ⁤multiple traffic offenses linked to ‍alcohol consumption. The prosecution expressed concern‍ about the potential for future violent‌ acts.
