World number one Carlos Alcaraz suffered an unexpected defeat in the second round of the Paris Masters on Tuesday, falling to unseeded Cameron Norrie 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The loss marks a meaningful upset for the six-time Grand Slam champion.
“I’m really disappointed with my game,” Alcaraz stated following the match. “Today I wasn’t feeling good adn I made a lot of mistakes.”
Alcaraz’s exit from the tournament also brings an end to his remarkable 17-match winning streak in Masters 1000 events. Furthermore, his number one ranking is now at risk; a victory for second-ranked Jannik Sinner in Paris woudl propel him to the top of the ATP rankings.

Cameron Norrie will now advance to face the winner of Wednesday’s match between Valentin vacherot and Arthur Rinderknecht. Vacherot secured his place with a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory over 14th-seeded Jiri Lehecka in the first round.
Fifth-seeded ben Shelton also progressed to the third round,defeating Flavio Coboli 7-6(4),6-3. He is scheduled to compete against Andre Rublev. Ninth-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime and No. 11 Daniil Medvedev also secured wins on Tuesday.
