Collage of Physicians Launches Clinical Case Contest, Showcasing primary Care innovation
ALBACETE, SPAIN – The College of Physicians of Albacete has initiated its annual Clinical Case contest, providing a platform for primary care clinicians to share challenging and insightful patient experiences. The contest, which culminated in an event on November 24, 2023, recognizes excellence in diagnostic reasoning, patient management, and the crucial physician-patient relationship.
This year’s contest featured presentations from clinicians tackling diverse medical complexities, ranging from addiction management to interpreting diagnostic tests in rural settings. The event underscores the vital role of primary care physicians in navigating the evolving healthcare landscape and highlights the importance of continuous learning and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange. Winners were selected and recognized during a closing ceremony, marking the conclusion of the event.
The November 24th program included individual case presentations followed by group discussions. Elena Lozoya de las Heras presented “The labyrinth of addictions: the key role of the medical-patient relationship” (18:54 – 19:02),followed by Patricia gallego Redondo’s “‘If at least the pain disappeared'” (19:02 – 19:10). Laura Martínez Hernández explored “The importance of the senses” (19:10 - 19:18), and maría Flores Copete discussed “Beyond treatment with Urbason” (19:18 – 19:26).
A subsequent session focused on clinical cases in primary care, featuring Pablo Madrigal Laguía’s presentation on ”Infernal approach to weight loss in rural primary care” (19:36 - 19:44), Carmen López Garrido’s “A not so physical pain” (19:44 – 19:52), and Marta Izquierdo Gabriel’s case study, “Doctor, I have the positive mantoux test What do I do?” (19:52 – 20:00). Each presentation was followed by a group discussion, fostering collaborative learning among attendees.
The event concluded with a deliberation, awards presentation, and closing remarks (20:10 – 20:30), recognizing the clinicians who presented the most compelling and informative cases. The College of Physicians of Albacete sponsors the contest, with support from USICAM, as indicated by branding at the event.
