Alan Ritchson: ‘Reacher’ Star Investigated After Alleged Assault
A physical altercation involving Alan Ritchson, star of the Prime Video series Reacher, is under investigation by the Brentwood, Tennessee Police Department, following an incident with a neighbor over the weekend. Ronnie Taylor, a Brentwood resident, alleges that Ritchson struck him during a confrontation stemming from concerns about the actor’s driving.
According to Taylor, the initial encounter occurred on Saturday when Ritchson was riding a motorcycle in the neighborhood and Taylor responded with a gesture of disapproval. The situation escalated on Sunday when Taylor confronted Ritchson again, asking him to slow down, according to statements provided to multiple news outlets.
“Can you fucking stop this please?” Taylor reportedly asked Ritchson, as recounted in reports from TMZ and Yahoo Entertainment. This prompted a physical exchange, with Taylor claiming Ritchson punched him four times. A video circulating online, and referenced in reports by Entertainment Weekly, appears to indicate Taylor being struck and falling to the ground.
Taylor told TMZ he pushed Ritchson, who was approaching him on the motorcycle, before being hit. He described sustaining bruising to his forehead. “I went to the ground and covered myself,” Taylor said in the video. “I don’t wish the guy any malice or ill will, but we just don’t need people riding through neighborhoods like this. I decided to take a stand.”
Sources speaking to TMZ claim Ritchson was pushed off his motorcycle twice prior to the altercation, suggesting he did not initiate the physical contact. The actor was reportedly accompanied by two children believed to be his at the time of the incident. Witnesses cited by Yahoo Entertainment reported seeing Ritchson with his children immediately before the confrontation.
Brentwood Police Captain Steve Pepin confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that an investigation is underway, but stated that “no arrests have been made.” The Brentwood Police Department did not respond to a request for comment from Rolling Stone regarding the investigation.
Taylor told reporters he was washing his motorcycle when he observed Ritchson riding at a high speed down the street. He also stated this was the second instance of observing Ritchson driving in a manner he considered unsafe.
