Alan Carr Crowned ‘the Traitor’ in Dramatic Celebrity Finale
EDINBURGH,SCOTLAND – Comedian Alan Carr has been revealed as one of the Traitors in the BBC’s inaugural celebrity version of the hit murder mystery game show,The Traitors, following a tense finale aired November 6th. Carr’s victory marks only the second time a Traitor has won across all UK series of the show, with the othre wins occurring in the three non-celebrity seasons were five Traitors were banished in each.
The finale saw Carr confessing to his role as a Traitor, stating, “I’m so sorry, it’s been tearing me apart.” He was subsequently comforted by fellow contestants Olusoga and Mohammed, who praised his performance, saying, “You did brilliantly.”
Carr then revealed the identities of the other Traitors, Burns and Jonathan Ross, who had previously been banished at a roundtable. The revelation visibly shocked Mohammed.
“Alan Carr. He played an absolute blinder,” declared Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, reflecting on Carr’s successful deception.
The series was also marked by the struggles of the “Faithful” contestants, who managed to banish only two Traitors throughout the entire run – a stark contrast to the five traitors eliminated in each of the non-celebrity series.
Adding to the drama, the finale was accidentally released online more than 24 hours before its scheduled UK airtime, with viewers in Canada briefly gaining access to the full episode.
Despite reaching the final, contestant Diane Burns admitted she doesn’t consider herself a skilled liar, even after successfully avoiding suspicion for much of the series. “I don’t think I am that great of a liar,” Burns said on BBC Radio 2’s Breakfast Show. “My mum watches me and she is like: ‘I can just tell that you are lying.’ But that’s the fun of the game isn’t it?”
A viral moment featuring Celia Imrie’s accidental on-screen flatulence was highlighted by Ed Gamble, host of the show’s companion programme Uncloaked, as a series standout. Gamble joked that the incident “altered the dynamic of guffs,” suggesting a future of more open and honest reactions.
The frist four episodes of The Celebrity Traitors averaged 12.6 million viewers.
