Alamo Drafthouse is bringing back the beloved “Ghostbusters” (1984) for a special movie party event across its locations throughout the final week of August. This cinematic festivity offers fans a chance too relive the iconic comedy with a themed experience.
Attendees will receive a special package of “Ghostbusters”-themed merchandise. This bundle includes Ghost Slime, a marshmallow, and red and blue glow necklaces, designed to enhance the viewing experience. While the initial screening has already occurred, additional showings are scheduled at most Alamo Drafthouse venues. Tickets are reportedly selling quickly, prompting a recommendation to secure seats promptly.
Alamo Drafthouse has a notable history with the “Ghostbusters” franchise. In late 2021, its Lower Manhattan location was renamed the *Ivan Reitman Cinema* in honor of the film’s director.This venue features a commemorative plaque and a large Stay Puft Marshmallow Man statue. The cinema has also hosted important “Ghostbusters” events, including the frist public screening of *”Ghostbusters: the Preview Cut“* in 2023, which was introduced by Jason Reitman and included early workprint footage. More recently, Alamo Drafthouse collaborated on *”Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire“* promotions, offering an exclusive Slimer pint glass designed by Chris Bilheimer and themed beverages such as the Ecto Cooler and Ecto Boozer.
