Al-Hilal Lose Milinkovic-Savic and Al-Dawsari Ahead of Al-Ittihad Clasico
Al-Hilal enters a high-stakes Saudi Pro League Clasico holding 18 points from six wins and one defeat, sitting a single point ahead of an unbeaten Al-Ittihad side holding 17 points from five wins and two draws. The two rivals meet on Saturday evening at the Kingdom Arena in the capital city of Al Riyadh for the eighth round of the Roshn League.
However, the Riyadh giants face a major setback after losing a second star in the final hours before kick-off. Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will miss the match through injury after failing medical tests during Friday’s final training session. Savic picked up a bruise to his calf muscle on international duty with Serbia, and the medical staff chose to rest him rather than risk a fresh injury. He joins captain Salem Al-Dawsari on the sidelines, as Al-Dawsari sat out Friday’s session due to pain in his ankle joint.
Al-Hilal Victory Would Reclaim Saudi League Lead
The outcome of this clásico carries significant weight in the early-season title race. Al-Hilal sits third on 18 points, just one behind Al-Qadsiah and Al-Nassr, though those two sides have played a game more. A victory for Al-Hilal would raise their tally to 21 points, send them back to the top of the Saudi League, and extend their gap over Al-Ittihad to four points. A draw would keep Al-Hilal one point ahead with 19 points.
Conversely, an Al-Ittihad victory would lift their points total to 20, putting them two points ahead of Al-Hilal and shaking up the upper tier of the standings.

Tactical Challenges Ahead
Italian boss Simone Inzaghi is left scrambling for alternatives to cover for the missing duo of Milinkovic-Savic and Al-Dawsari. The squad list is set to be finalised immediately before kick-off at the Kingdom Arena.
