Traffic Snarls Sideline TV4 Hockey Commentator as Skellefteå Edges Rögle
Ängelholm, Sweden – Snowy conditions across sweden caused traffic chaos today, impacting even live sports coverage as TV4 hockey commentator Åke Unger became stuck in traffic en route to the Rögle-Skellefteå SHL summit.Unger was scheduled to commentate the game alongside expert Almen Bibic, but was delayed indefinitely by the whether-related gridlock.
The disruption forced Bibic to initially begin the broadcast solo from the Catena arena, recalling a similar situation experienced by colleague Sanny Lindström the previous year. “Then I sat at home and thought ‘Shit, is that happening to me… What a problem I will end up in…. What a nightmare’,” Bibic shared during the TV4 broadcast. “And I feel like I’m getting close to it.” Unger texted Expressen, stating, “Snow chaos and someone driving with summer tires. Not a good combination.”
Fortunately, commentator Albin Skur was able to join the broadcast mid-game after being dispatched from his job at the Post Office.”I stood at the Post Office and sorted packages with Uffe,Anders and Sören,” Skur explained from the studio in Stockholm.”But then I said ‘Guys, I have to pipe. Now I’m needed somewhere else’. So it was just a matter of jumping into the taxi and going straight in here.”
Skur and Bibic then completed the commentary as Skellefteå secured a 3-2 victory over Rögle.
